Alpine Watershed Group (AWG) is a community-based nonprofit organization. AWG's mission is to protect, conserve, and restore Alpine County’s watersheds by promoting sustainable community and science-based collaborative solutions. Since 2000, AWG has been working with partners and community members to proactively implement projects that benefit and steward the county's watersheds.
AWG's activities include the following:
• Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Program
• Ongoing stream and meadow restoration projects
• Markleeville Creek Floodplain Restoration Project
• Forest health and post-fire restoration and monitoring projects
• Annual Creek Day event each September
• Adopt-A-Highway cleanups
• Youth environmental education program
• Watershed planning to inform future projects
