Alpine Watershed Group

Alpine Watershed Group (AWG) is a community-based nonprofit organization. AWG's mission is to protect, conserve, and restore Alpine County’s watersheds by promoting sustainable community and science-based collaborative solutions. Since 2000, AWG has been working with partners and community members to proactively implement projects that benefit and steward the county's watersheds.

AWG's activities include the following:

    Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Program

    Ongoing stream and meadow restoration projects

    Markleeville Creek Floodplain Restoration Project 

    Forest health and post-fire restoration and monitoring projects

    Annual Creek Day event each September

    Adopt-A-Highway cleanups

    Youth environmental education program

    Watershed planning to inform future projects
