NOTICE TO SUBMIT ARGUMENTS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an election will be held in Alpine County on June 2, 2026, and that the following measure will be submitted to the voters:
Measure H
Shall the office of County Superintendent of Schools of Alpine County be filled by appointment by the County Board of Education, rather than by election by the voters of the county, pursuant to California Constitution, Article IX, Section 3? | ___ YES |

NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that any written arguments for or against the measure (s) to be submitted to the voters must be filed with the office of the County Clerk/Elections Official, PO Box 158, 99 Water Street, Markleeville CA 96120, no later than 5 p.m. on March 22, 2026. Arguments must be accompanied by a Signature Statement, available from the Elections Official, signed and dated by the author(s). Arguments shall not exceed 300 words.
NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that if an argument in favor of and an argument against the measure(s) are submitted, copies will be mailed to the respective authors in order that they may submit a rebuttal argument. Rebuttal arguments must be accompanied by a Signature Statement, signed and dated by the author(s). The deadline for filing a rebuttal argument will be April 1, 2026. Rebuttal arguments shall not exceed 250 words.

NOTICE OF ELECTION - County Offices subject to Election: Assessor/Recorder, County Clerk, Superintendent of Schools, Superior Court Judge, Supervisor District 1, Supervisor District 4.
HOW TO FILE
To become a candidate for one of the above offices, you may proceed by:
1) Petition In-Lieu of Filing Fees: Petition In-Lieu of Filing Fees is used for securing signatures in lieu of all or part of the required filing fee. State law requires that a filing fee be paid by the candidate, exclude Superior Court Judge, at the time the nomination documents are issued. The petition in lieu of filing fee period is December 19, 2025 – February 2, 2026. The signatures on the petition-in-lieu-of filing fees will also count toward the required nomination signatures.
2) Nomination Paper is used in securing the number of signatures required to seek office. The nomination period is February 9, 2026 to March 6, 2026. The candidate must obtain nomination signatures and pay the filing fee by March 6, 2026.

Alpine County is an all-mail ballot election. Ballots are mailed on October 6, 2025. An external drop box is located at outside the Alpine County Government Center, 99 Water St. Markleeville, CA.
The County Clerk will provide satellite office hours October 15, 2025, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Woodfords Gym, 25 Washoe Blvd, Woodfords, CA; October 22, 2025, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility District, 33540 Loop Rd, Kirkwood, CA; October 29, 2025, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Bear Valley Library Conference Room, 367 Creekside Dr, Bear Valley, CA
OBSERVATION SCHEDULE
The public is invited to observe as the Alpine County Registrar of Voters conducts a series of public events related to the election. All events will take place at the Alpine County Registrar of Voters office, 99 Water St, Markleeville according to the following schedule:
| September 29, 2025 – Logic and accuracy testing of the County’s high-speed ballot scanners and vote tabulation system begins at 3 pm |
| October 6, 2025 – Logic and accuracy testing of the County’s high-speed ballot scanners and vote tabulation system begins at 3 pm |
| October 20, 2025 – Logic and accuracy testing of the County’s high-speed ballot scanners and vote tabulation system begins at 3 pm |
| November 4, 2025 - Ballots retrieved each hour from United States Postal Service. Polls open at 7 am and close at 8 pm and the release of results will begin shortly thereafter. |
| November 13, 2025 – Ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by E+7 counted; random precinct selection for the one percent manual tally of ballots counted on the high-speed ballot scanners takes place at 11 am |
| November 19, 2025– Logic and accuracy testing of the County’s high-speed ballot scanners and vote tabulation system begins at 2 pm |
