Welcome to Summer Reading 2025 at Alpine County Library!
The 2025 Summer Reading theme Level Up at Your Library is all about puzzles, games, and play! Our summer program is open to all ages and will run from July 5th to August 9th. We hope to see you at our events and programs and don't forget to pick-up and drop-off your reading logs to be entered into our end of summer drawing!
Level Up at Your Library Kickoff!
Join us for our Summer Reading 2025 Kickoff on July 5th 2025! Come down to the Markleeville Library at 11:00 where we will have activities, refreshments, and information on our summer programming, events, and reading logs.
How it works: This summer join the Alpine County Library Markleeville Location for five weeks of music, building, reading, games, and connecting with others! We can’t wait to see you for weekly programming, reading log drop-offs, and our many digital and in-person resources!
Who can participate & what can I put on my reading log? Our summer reading program is open to all ages 0-100, there is something for everyone! You can log books, eBooks, Audiobooks, and Tonies with our reading logs which you can pick up from the library.
Will there be prizes? Every time you attend a program or drop off a reading log between July 5th-August 9th you can enter your name into an end of summer drawing for a Friends of the Library sponsored prize! There will be kids prizes and prizes that adults and teens can enter to win! These will be announced via your contact information you provide to the library so be sure to update your account with a current number and email!
Tuesdays: Games Galore! Come each week for a new round of building, games, and puzzles to enjoy at your own pace! All DAY 11am-4pm
Wednesdays: Check-out Challenge! Adults & kids come to the library every Wednesday and check-out our featured items to enter into a raffle! Check the calendar or ask library staff which items are being highlighted! ALL DAY 10am-4pm
Thursdays: Come to the library for “Alpine Theater” where we will show a movie & provide popcorn for the whole family to enjoy! 2pm-4pm (movies are subject to change)
Fridays: Jam Sessions! Come to our all ages jam sessions every Friday! We have guitars, keyboards, violins, banjos, and more if you need to borrow an instrument! 1pm-3pm
Saturdays: Come for a story, snack, and activity! Stay and play in our kids nook with magnet tiles, instruments, marble run, and more! 11am-12:30pm
DRAGONS: Read to collect playing cards and battle your friends with Fire, Water, and Leaf! Ask the Circulation Desk for your new set of cards each time you fill out a row with your reading sessions!
